Event: Burials &
Cemeteries In Date
Order:
Death Certificates, Death notices, Obituaries; Social Security Death Index,
Cemeteries records, War Deaths.
Note: Also keep in mind that cemetery records and tombstones are not exempt from
errors. A family member, distant relative, friend or neighbor may have
given the only information they knew. Or a careless clerk may have typed the
information incorrectly. For example my Great Uncle, Henry Weick, was entered
into the records as Henry Hick. So beware!

St. Mary's
Church, Tarleton, Lancashire Co.; Picture courtesy of J. Harte, sent June,
2003; Ancestor, Thomas Fazackerley, 1920-2003. View of the grave site
(floral arrangement at base of headstone) and St.
Mary's Church in the background.

"The last time I was at the Church yard with my Mum to take some flowers to
the grave, we were very lucky that the Church was open to the public. It
is not used any more for services and is only open on rare occasions. We
went and had a look inside. It was like stepping back 200 years!!
I am sure that nothing much has changed since it was first built. It is
a very functional church to say the least with very uncomfortable looking pews
with a minstral type gallery with further wooden pews but some of them are
boxed in. Apparently these could be 'bought' for the wealthier members
of the congregation as the Church was so draughty! It is very
plain inside with all the original fittings. It is very interesting and
I do not think that I would like to have sat there for any length of time, I
can only say that the sermon would need to have been very inspiring!
The curator of the Church was very interested when I told
her about your web-site! She did tell me though that there are some
graves in the Church yard that are not marked by any stones! This
is quite interesting if there are any Fazackerley's amongst them. I
shall try to investigate next time I am visiting, if she will let me have the
information."
